Landscaping

Designing a full bike park includes attention for plants and shade. As part of this thinking we incorporate grass, bushes and trees into our bike parks. Grass works include installing an underground sprinkler system connected to an automatic watering system.

Park lawn serves several purposes:

Planting grass on the sides of the tracks and between the different elements covers extensive parts of the bike park, so that as soon as visitors enter the park, they have the feeling of being in a pleasant and open space where it’s possible to sit on the grass in the shade and spend several hours.
Safety – The grass-covered sides of the tracks provide immediate protection for park users in case of a fall or uncontrollable exit from the tracks. They provide for a “soft environment” which allows for safe learning.
Stabilizing the slopes – The riding tracks are designed with changing topography with different elevation in the sloping track; these changes create slopes on the sides of the tracks up to a height of one meter or more. Planting grass on the slopes maintains the original topography and protects it from erosion and breaking apart due to erosion.

landscaping refers to the park’s placement and environment and includes planting trees to provide shade for the track users and park visitors. Demarcating the park area is sometimes done using a hedge, which add an aesthetic touch to the park.

Outdoor Furniture and Signage

Bike parks allow for a pleasant stay for their users. While at the park, visitors can rest on benches, leave their bicycles in designated parking facilities, throw their trash into waste bins, make use of the on-site bike pump, drink cool water from the water fountain, enjoy the shade, and more.

Safety rules and user guide signage are installed in the bike park as part of the safety program and are a significant part of turning the park into a safe place, where clear rules apply to both the visitors and the park operator.

Lighting

Bike parks are designed for use at all times of the day and special lighting is necessary in them, especially in warm Israel where the hours of activity are often between late afternoon and nighttime.

Mountain Goat has a professional team of advisors and designers who take part in the design and construction of every bike park: a landscaping architect for park planning, a safety advisor who approves the work plan and construction, a Land Consultant working on the plans for the tracks and park facilities, an electrical advisor working on the lighting plan for each individual project, an irrigation designer for the watering system and vegetation, as well as an expert engineer performing quality control on the construction processes, including lab testing to determine performance quality and to apply with the parameters set in the technical specifications.
